The football players show off the sectional banner that will hang in Fleet Gym.

Junior linebacker Jake Young (Plymouth, Ind.) was named by the Indiana Football Coaches Association to the junior all-state team. Young was also named the team’s Most Valuable Player. Those were two of the honors handed out when the Culver Military Academy football team gathered one last time to celebrate its 2015 sectional championship season.

Four members of the team received academic all-state recognition: Ryan Hallenbeck, David Pumarejo, Matt Schmidt, and Ross Thompson.

Individual class scholar-athletes recognized for carrying the highest GPA on the team were: seniors Schmidt and Thompson; junior Ben Snyder; sophomores John Houston and Kyle Dane; and freshmen Alec Stathakis and Joe Kuhl.

Varsity awards included: offensive MVP, Hallenbeck; defensive MVP, Schmidt; ACE award, Pumarejo; Most Improved, Ben Snyder; New Eagle Award, Connor Caponi; Prep Player, Carson Bellman; Rudy Schinderle Award, Jack Rich.

Junior varsity awards handed out included: offensive MVP, Stathakis; Ace award, Trent Lipsett, defensive MVP, Andrew Griffith; Most Improved, Patrick Moore.
