Culver Military Academy prep lacrosse coach Jon Posner and attack Ethan Walker ’16 (Peterborough, Ontario) were invited to the participate in Nike’s The Ride lacrosse event in Portland, Ore. Coaches and players are invited to attend the elite-level, three-day event held at Nike’s world headquarters.
Posner was one of four high school coaches selected to work at the camp. Walker was one of the 50 underclass players selected to attend the camp. Players participate in speed and agility training and testing, run collegiate-style drills, play games, and simulate being interviewed by the media.
The Nike Ride event is different from other summer camps since college coaches do not attend. The focus is placed on the high school underclassmen, mostly juniors, improving their skills for the coming season. Approximately 85 percent of the players have verbally committed to a collegiate program. Walker, who has verbally committed to playing for coach Bill Tierney at the University of Denver, was named the Most Valuable Player at the attack position after scoring four goals in the championship game.
The CMA prep team finished the season 23-0 and ranked second in the nation and first in the Midwest.
