Two books by children’s author John Scieszka ’72 – The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs and The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales – have been included on Time magazine’s list of the 100 Best Children’s Books of all time.
Time consulted individuals and organizations such as U.S. Children’s Poet Laureate Kenn Nesbitt, children’s-book historian Leonard Marcus, the National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature, the Young Readers Center at the Library of Congress, the Every Child a Reader literacy foundation and 10 independent booksellers in creating two lists: 100 Best Children’s Books and 100 Best Young-Adult Books.
The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs is listed at No. 8 and The Stinky Cheese Man made the list at No. 77. Both books were illustrated by Lane Smith. They are available for students to check out at Culver Academies’ Huffington Library, along with more books by Scieszka and other Culver authors.
