The following student-athletes were recognized as Culver Academies’ January Athletes of the Month.
CGA: Tori Styers
Tori, a senior from Plymouth, Ind., has led CGA basketball to a 12-7 regular season record by averaging 15.5 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists per contest. As one of the leaders of the team and a four-year starter, she is constantly working to improve her play nightly.
Against Blackhawk Christian, she led the team with 14 rebounds from the guard position and the night before established a career high of 27 points against New Prairie on senior night.
Coach Gary Christlieb noted that “Tori is one of the most competitive players I have ever had and she consistently practices/plays with great effort on a nightly basis.”
CMA: Adam Davis
Adam, a second classman from Granger, Ind., won his third consecutive sectional championship, advancing through the regional and making it to the semi-state. He had an amazing record of 37-3 for the season.
Overall, he surpassed the 100th career win mark as a Culver Military Academy wrestler. Of those matches, Adam has 63 career pins, reaching eighth in the state of Indiana rankings at 126 pounds. Last year, he helped his team to an eighth place finish in the team state duals this year.
According to Coach Matt Behling, “Adam is the consummate worker. He consistently puts himself in a position where he has to challenge himself to improve. He models the work ethic we want others to emulate.”
