Heads to Cal-Berkeley in the fall

Rower Joe Sterner ’16 (St. Charles, Ill.) finished third in the single sculls at the Youth National Championships in West Windsor, N.J., Saturday. He covered the 2000-meter course in 7 minutes, 25.398 seconds in the championship.

Sterner advanced to the final by placing second out of 23 competitors in the four first round heats Friday, rowing 7:17.388. He finished first in the semifinal round Saturday moring, besting 11 other rowers in 7:25.522. The top six advanced to the final. Sterner will be rowing at the University of California-Berkeley in the fall.
