The Culver Academies speech team finished the season as the Class A state runner-up at the Indiana High School Forensic Association’s competition earlier this month at Fishers High School. Thirty students competed at the state tournament, with 14 breaking to the quarter finals, four advancing to the semis, and one – Peter Talbot ’17 (Culver) – placing fourth in broadcasting in the finals.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the team captured its fifth consecutive IHSFA Sectional championship and fourth consecutive Central Indiana Forensic League (CIFL) championship. Culver Academies also earned the 2016 Leading Chapter Award from the National Speech and Debate Association. Culver averaged a second place finish in its competitions throughout the season.
