The Culver Military Academy basketball team will take its next step in returning to Bankers Life Fieldhouse when the Eagles (23-3) face the Marion Giants (19-7) in the Class 3A semi-state at Elkhart’s North Side Gym Saturday afternoon.
Tickets for the game are $10 each and will be available at the door. CMA-Marion will be the second game of the day. The Class A semi-state game between Blackhawk Christian of Fort Wayne and Lafayette Central Catholic will begin at 4 p.m. After the conclusion of the Class A game, officials will provide 30 minutes for the trophy presentation and cutting down the nets. That will be followed by the 20-minute warm-up period for CMA and Marion. Doors for both games will open at 2:30 p.m.
North Side Gym is located at 300 Lawrence St., Elkhart, Ind. Built in 1954, North Side Gym seats 7,373, making it the sixth largest high school gym in the state. Fifth place belongs to Marion at 7,560.
Fans unable to attend in person will have their choice of ways to watch/listen to the game.
Broadcastsports.net, Summit City Sports, and WHME-TV’s Facebook page will be online video broadcasting the game, and Tony Ross of Plymouth’s MAX 98.3 will be doing an audio broadcast of the game. You can access the audio via MAX983.net or by visiting tunein.com and entering WYMR into the search bar. The game will also air Saturday night at 10 p.m. on WHME 46 South Bend.
CMA repeated as regional champions with a 55-37 win over Hanover Central in the semi-final round and a 62-41 win over Hammond in the championship at the Great Western Forum in South Bend. The Eagles are ranked third in the final Associated Press Class 3A poll.
Marion defeated Angola, 59-38, in the semi-final and beat previously unbeaten Delta, 45-39, at the Marion regional championship. The Giants finished the regular season ranked 14th in the AP poll.
