First CMA player since 1999

Hayden Schott ’18 will need to take some time off from his lifeguard position with Culver Schools & Camps in about a month.

Schott has been named to the North roster for the Indiana North-South All-Star Baseball Series on July 21-22. The three-game weekend series will be played at Four Winds Field in South Bend. The 45th annual event is sponsored by the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association.

Schott will play in the outfield. He led the state in hitting during the early part of regular season, carrying a .650 batting average during April. He is the first CMA player named to the all-star roster since David Lower in 1999. Mitch Henderson ’94 was the first CMA player to make an all-star series appearance.

The North and South teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday, July 21. The first game is set for noon and the second for 3:45 p.m. The players will wear their North and South uniforms during those two games. The third game will be at noon on Sunday, July 22, and players will be using wood bats. They will wear their high school uniforms for that contest.

The players will practice on Four Winds Field, which is the home of the Single A affiliate South Bend Cubs, and attend a banquet at the Century Center on Friday.

Schott (Newport Beach, California) was also named to the IHSBCA’s all-academic team, as were fellow seniors Jake Rodgers (Culver), Kyle Dane (Stateline, Nevada), and Will LeVan (Newton, Kansas).
