Welcome to Championship Saturday Culver sports fans. Saturday will see five Culver teams take to the course, courts, and pitch (soccer field) looking to either win a championship or advance to the next round of a state tournament.

It all begins at 10:30 a.m. when Culver Academies will host the girls and boys cross country sectionals. The boys five-kilometer race will feature CMA and 10 other area schools competing for a chance to advance. The girls 5K will begin at approximately 11:10 a.m., with CGA and 10 other teams vying for one of the top five slots. Again, the top 10 individuals from nonā€advancing teams will also qualify for the regional. The races are free of charge.

After the cross country sectional, fans will be able to cross State Road 10 and go to the Gable Tennis Center to watch CMA take on Munster for the semi-state title at noon. CMA (16-2) will face Munster (20-1) on the front courts with a trip to the state finals next week on the line. The Eagles advanced with a 3-2 regional championship win over Plymouth Wednesday. The Indiana High School Athletic Association is charging $5 per person for the tournament.

At 2 p.m., the CGA soccer team will travel to Plymouth High School to face Warsaw in the sectional championship game. The Eagles advanced with a 4-1 win over host Plymouth on Tuesday and a 2-0 victory over NorthWood on Thursday. Tickets will be $6 each.
