Jan Garrison joined the Communications Department in December 2000. He serves as the editor for the Culver news blog, coordinates Culver Academies’ sports coverage, and contributes to the Alumni magazine. He and his wife Crissie have three children: Cameron '10, Morgan '11, and Keely '15.
Doug Haberland has served as editor of Culver Alumni Magazine since October 1992. As Director of Publications, he manages the editorial staff and the production of various public relations and promotional materials, and other electronic communications used for various constituencies. Doug received a Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University in social science with a minor in journalism. He had two decades of experience in newspaper and magazine journalism before coming to Culver.
Jeff Kenney joined the Communications staff in the summer of 2016. He also serves as the curator of the Culver Academies Museum & Gift Shop. A Culver native, Kenney is best known for his years as the editor of the Culver Citizen. He is also a regular speaker on topics covering Culver and Lake Maxinkuckee history. He and his wife, Beth, have six children.
Mike Petrucelli joined Culver in 2011 as the Advancement Communications Coordinator, focusing on alumni and donor engagement. He’s a graduate of Purdue University and came to Culver after 16 years as a newspaper journalist.
Heather McColly ’12, joined the team as a Summer Communications Intern. She is heading into her senior year at Miami University and is studying Strategic Communications and Sports Marketing. Heather loves bargain shopping, traveling, the Chicago Blackhawks, and the Culver Rootbeer Stand.
Meagan Maes joined the Communications Department for the 2013-2014 academic school year. As a native of Culver, Meagan earned her bachelor’s degree at Saint Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Ind., in mass communications. She has also been a counselor at Culver Woodcraft Camp for the past five summers and has also worked Family Camp and mini camps
Noah Trevino ’15 spent nine months attending St. Felix School in Southwold, England, as an English Speaking Union Scholar. A native of Gary, Ind., Trevino is a summer intern working in the communications department. He will be attending Washington University in St. Louis to study architecture.
Katie Taylor joined the Development Department on July 1, 2015. She serves as a Culver Fund Officer, working with recent graduates and current students, as well as managing Culver’s crowdfunding platform, Impact Culver. Katie graduated from Culver Upper Camp in 2010 and from Culver Girls Academy in 2011. A 2015 graduate of Miami University, she serves as assistant sailing coach and works with the CGA Drill Team.
Emily Hernandez ’14 is entering her sophomore year at Vanderbilt University this fall where she is studying Psychology, French, and Cooperate Strategy. This summer she joined the Communications Team as the Social Media Intern and has perfected Instagram filters. While not at Culver, she anchors down with Vanderbilt’s Relay for Life Executive Board, loves eating all types of breakfast food, goes hiking, and believes that 1300 Academy Road will always be her home.
Head of Schools Jim Power, Ed.D., is an experienced educator who has led a number of private institutions for nearly 30 years, A native of Philadelphia, Power comes to Culver after serving as the Principal of Upper Canada College in Toronto and Headmaster of Georgetown Preparatory School near Washington, D.C.
In addition to singing in the choir, Tori Styers plays basketball and soccer, and is a CGA leader. She is a junior.
Kelly Rogers joined the Culver Summer Schools & Camps staff in 2011 as the Communications Coordinator. A 2007 graduate of the Culver Girls Academy and a 2011 graduate of the University of Mississippi, Kelly holds a B.A. in Journalism with a focus in Public Relations as well as a minor in English. Kelly resides in Culver with her husband John.
Culver resident Kristen Counts is a frequent contributor to Culver Alumni Magazine. She is the wife of Math Department Chairman Nick Counts, and their daughter Ruthie is a Woodcrafter.
Abigail Surrisi is a communications intern specializing in social media and webiste development. A 2015 Culver Girls Academy graduate, Abby will be attending DePauw University this fall.
Trent is the Digital Media Manager at Culver Academies where he contributes to the online presence, brand, and strategy. When he's not online he's either sitting on the shores of Lake Max with a fishing pole in hand or watching the Buckeyes beat Michigan.
