The following students were named the October 2015 Athletes of the Month:
CGA: Lauren Reed
Lauren Reed ’16 (Bremen, Ind.) played in the No. 1 position all year with an 18-hole scoring average of 79. She placed 6th out of 90 players at the Rochester Invitational and placed 5th out of 84 players at our CGA Invitational. Reed is the only second CGA golfer ever to be named to the Indiana All State Team.
Coach Karen Rudd: “Lauren has the most drive, the most passion for the game. She is committed to St. Francis in Fort Wayne to play golf. Her blood doesn’t run red, it runs green from spending so much time at the golf course.”
CMA: Sam Concannon
Sam Concannon ’16 (Indianapolis) won the Indiana Individual State Tennis Tournament by defeating Steven Christie from North Central High School, 7-6, 6-2. Sam also helped to guide the CMA tennis squad to consecutive semi-state titles. As the Eagles’ No. 1 singles player, Sam advanced to the individual title match in his junior year. He fell in the championship match last year, but he emerged victorious this year over Christie.
Emerging as state champion is impressive, but most notable is that Concannon completed his senior year undefeated at 28-0. He did not lose a set all season, going 56-0. Sam has also been recognized as the Indiana Tennis Player of the Year.
