Spends two days working with horsemanship students
December 14, 2015

Culver Academies hosted one of the top tier hunter jumper judges and trainers for two days of instruction over the weekend. Julie B. Winkel, owner of Maplewood Stables, Reno, Nev., worked with the students in the Vaughn Equestrian Center.

Winkel is so well-known in horse circles that other riders from the area sat in the gallery to observe. Among her credentials, she is a noted United States Hunter Jumper Association certified trainer, an Emerging Athlete Talent Scout, and United States Equestrian Federation judge. Winkel has judged several prestigious shows around the country.

She has also designed courses and trained and shown hunters and jumpers at the top level, nationally and internationally. Her Maplewood Stables has produced such champions By The Bay in the hunter class and Princeton in the jumper class.
