Update: Kayla Miracle finished fourth at the Olympic Trials. Full story here

Kayla Miracle ’14 has been seeded fourth at 128 pounds (58 kilograms) in the latest USA Wrestling women’s freestyle ranking list. USA Wrestling released the special set of rankings for those athletes qualified to compete at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City, Iowa, on April 9-10.

The top eight wrestlers for each of the six Olympic weight classes were based on three criteria: 1) head-to-head victories, 2) wins over common opponents and 3) whether or not an athlete was a member of the 2015 U.S. World Team. The rankings will serve as the baseline for seeding athletes at the Trials. Only the top-eight in each weight class received a ranking.

Miracle is scheduled to wrestle Saturday. She will need to win five matches. The finals are the best two-out-of-three. The trials will be carried live on NBCSN Live Extra, with the finals being broadcast that evening on NBCSN.

Miracle is currently a sophomore at Campbellsville University. She recently repeated as the 128-pound champion at the Women’s University Nationals. She defeated 2015 Junior World medalist Becka Leathers in the finals by an 11-1 technical fall. The top two wrestlers in each weight class automatically qualified for the Olympic Team Trials.

Miracle was also the repeat champion at the Women’s Collegiate Wrestling Association’s national championship held in February.

She made history while at Culver Academies, becoming the only girl wrestler in Indiana history to advance to the individual state wrestling finals.
