Former Culver Military wrestler Anthony McHugh ’13 finished second in the 133-pound weight class to help the United States Air Force Academy capture the 2015 All-Academy Wrestling Championships. This was the first time Air Force has won the title in 12 years.
After an opening round bye, McHugh decisioned Zack Davis of Navy, 3-0. He lost 5-2 in the championship match to Nate Georgio (33-0) of the Coast Guard Academy.
With the victory, the Falcons received the wrestling version of The Commander in Chief Trophy. Air Force scored 90 points to beat out Army (86.5) and Navy (81.5), who finished behind the Falcons in the eight-team field. Nine of 10 Falcon wrestlers finished above their seedings and all 10 finish in the top four on the day.
McHugh, now 13-13 on the season, is shown following his victory over Davis. The tournament was held Feb. 7 at the United States Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, N.Y.
