Fans asked to wear maroon

The “Maroon Platoon” will be invading Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Saturday when the Culver Military Academy basketball team plays for the Class 3A state championship against Evansville Bosse. Game time is set for 6 p.m. Gates will open at 5 p.m. (EDT).

Culver has received a block of 1,500 reserve tickets. Culver officials are asking fans to wear maroon on Saturday to show support for the Eagles. Culver will be the home team for the game.

Reserve seating tickets will go on sale at 9 a.m. Tuesday and run through noon Thursday. All tickets will be ordered and purchased online or by calling (574) 842-7200. The tickets are $15 and good for both the Class 3A and 4A games. Children age 2 and younger who will be sitting on their parents’ laps do not need tickets. People will have the option of picking up their tickets at the Alumni Office in Culver, the Culver Pep Rally event at the Columbia Club in Indianapolis (register here), or at the “will call” window at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Saturday.

Those wishing to pick up their tickets at Culver can do so from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday. Those making reservations to attend the Culver Pep Rally event at the Columbia Club will receive their tickets during 12:30 to 4 p.m. event. All other pre-purchased tickets, through a special arrangement with the IHSAA, will be available at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse “will call” window beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Unsold tickets will be available at Bankers Life Fieldhouse ticket office on game day on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The fourth-ranked Eagles (22-6) advanced to the state championship with a 65-60 victory over No. 1 New Castle at the Lafayette Jeff semi-state this past Saturday. No. 3 Bosse (25-4) advanced with a 64-61 win over No. 7 Danville at the Washington semi-state. CMA and Bosse met in Evansville on Dec. 16 with the Bulldogs taking a 74-64 win.

This will be the Eagles’ second appearance in the state championship game. CMA lost to Washington, featuring Cody Zeller, 61-46, in 2011. Bosse dropped a 73-68 decision to Marion in 2016.  In 2007, Bosse lost by a 72-61 margin to a Plymouth squad that included CMA assistant coach Blaine Schafer.

The game will be broadcast on Fox Sports Indiana in the central portion of the state. South Bend’s WHME (Channel 46) will carry the game in the Michiana area. The game will also be live streamed at IHSAAtv.org, but it will be delayed for those in the Fox Sports Indiana coverage area.

Area radio stations listed as covering the game include Plymouth stations Max 98.3 and WTCA (1050 AM/106.1 FM, WKVI (99.3 FM) in Knox, and WRSW (107.3 FM/1480 AM) in Warsaw. They are part of the IHSAA Champions Radio Network. A total of 43 stations throughout Indiana will be covering the game.

The other state championship games will be Morristown (27-2) vs. Southwood (25-3) in Class A, beginning at 10:30 a.m.; Forest Park (26-4) vs. Oak Hill (25-5) in Class 2A at approximately 12:45 p.m.; and Warren Central (31-0) vs. Carmel (21-7) in Class 4A following the CMA-Bosse contest.
