“The Greatest Love of All: The Whitney Houston Show,” a live concert honoring the talent, music, and memory of the late singer, will be the first program in the Huffington Concert Series for the 2018-19 season.
The Tuesday, Sept. 25 performance at Eppley Auditorium will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are now on sale at the Culver Academies’ Steinbrenner Performing Arts Center Box Office or by contacting Marsha Coven (firstname.lastname@example.org) or calling (574) 842-7058. Tickets will also be available at the Eppley Auditorium Box Office one hour before the show.
Featuring the vocals of Belinda Davids accompanied by a six-piece live band and dancers, the two-hour production will feature Houston’s greatest hits, including “I Will Always Love You,” “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” “How Will I Know,” “One Moment in Time,” “I Have Nothing,” “Run to You,” “Didn’t We Almost Have It All,” “Greatest Love of All,” “I’m Every Woman,” “Exhale (Shoop Shoop)” and more.
Paying tribute to Houston is the culmination of a life-long connection with the superstar for South African singer Davids. She was selected from almost 15,000 hopefuls for the show. Exposed mainly to R&B and gospel as a child, Davids has been singing professionally since her early teens. “I think I’ve sung at least one Whitney track in almost every live show I’ve ever performed,” she said on the show’s website.
Davids has carved out a successful career as a solo artist and a session vocalist for The Temptations, Keri Hilson, Keyshia Cole, Monica, and John Gill. But, in her earlier days, she encountered resistance from some industry professionals because she looked and sounded so much like Houston.
Launched in 2013, the tribute show has already played before audiences across the U.S., Canada, Europe, South Africa, Asia, the United Arab Emirates, Australia, and New Zealand.
