Culver Academies was represented by four students when the 2012-2013 Indiana All-State Honor Choir performed in Fort Wayne on Jan. 19.
Katrina Weil ’13 (Cary, Ill.), Eberle Miller ’14 (Logansport, Ind.), Alexandra Jeffirs ’15 (Plymouth, Ind.), and Cory Andrzejewski ’15 (Plymouth, Ind.) were among the approximately 250 students who performed at the Embassy Theatre. They were under the direction of Jefferson Johnson, DMA, the director of choral activities at the University of Kentucky. The choir accompanied by members of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Orchestra.
Selections included Hallelujah (Ludwig van Beethoven), The Trysting Place (Johannes Brahms), Got a Mind to Do Right (spiritual), Down in the River to Pray (traditional), and Zion’s Walls (Aaron Copland).
The Honor Choir is designed to showcase the state’s best singers. The students from across Indiana are selected by competitive audition and attend monthly rehearsals beginning in September. It was sponsored by the Indiana Choral Directors Association and Indiana Music Educators Association.
