The Ulysses Quartet, winners of the 2016 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition in May, will be performing at Culver Academies on Monday, Oct. 10, at 7:30 p.m. The free concert will be conducted in the Heritage Room of the Legion Memorial Building.
The Ulysses Quartet won the coveted Grand Prize at the Fischoff Competition, which is held annually at the University of Notre Dame. The quartet was selected best out of 49 competing ensembles from across the nation and around the world. The New York-based ensemble, consisting of Christina Bouey (violin), Rhiannon Banerdt (violin), Colin Brookes (viola), and Grace Mei-En Ho (cello), also won the Gold Medal in the Senior String Division of the competition.
Culver Academies is a traditional stop for Fischoff winners as they participate in a tour of the Midwest each fall. The Ulysses Quartet will also perform several concerts at the 2017 Emila Romagna Festivals in central Italy.
