Fifty-two Culver Military Academy cadets were commissioned as officers during a special outdoor ceremony on the lakeside of the Legion Memorial Building Tuesday, Aug. 16. It is one of the largest groups to be commissioned in recent memory.

Regimental Commander Nicholas Cefalu ’17 (South Lake Tahoe, Calif.) and Regimental Adjutant Troy Shen ’17 (Chicago) were promoted to the rank of captain with the rest of the regimental staff and battalion leaders receiving the rank of full lieutenant. The rest of the officers, predominantly platoon leaders received the rank of second lieutenant.

Each cadet received a gold hat band from Capt. Mike Neller, Commandant of Cadets, to signify they are now officers. Dr. Jim Power, Head of Schools, spoke briefly to the cadets and Neller administered the oath.
