Capt. Clinton Hensley, the SCX commander with the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing, came to Culver Summer Schools & Camps’ final parade Thursday morning to surprise his 11-year-old son Preston.
Hensley, who just returned from a seven-month deployment in Qatar, came with his wife Robin to pick Preston up. Camp ends Friday. From Ashville, Ohio, Capt. Hensley was not scheduled to arrive home until sometime in August.
Preston is a member of Division 6 in Woodcraft Camp. During the “officers center” portion of the parade Preston received the Woodcraft Citizenship and Character Award. When Preston started to come forward to receive his award, it was announced his father, who was on the reviewing line, would be making the presentation – much to the delight of the crowd.
We’ll let Trent Miles’ video tell the rest of the story.
The original version of this story incorrectly stated Hensley served in Iraq.
