History in the making
With its victory last week, the Eagles tied a record that has stood for 114 years. The last team to win 10 games in a season was the 1903 squad. The Maroon-and-White or the Maroons, as they were known, were unbeaten at 10-0. That team scored 353 points on the season while giving up only 16 (see the football). The 1904 team followed that up with an 8-1 season, losing to only to Purdue.
Battle of the Andys
CMA coach Andy Dorrel and Angola coach Andy Thomas have known each other for several years. Thomas was the coach at Culver Community from 2006-2013, leading the Cavaliers to a 42-47 record during his tenure.
Thomas’ record at Angola is 26-16. He started his coaching career at Garrett, winning the regional in 2003. The Eagles won sectional titles in 2000 and 2015 under Dorrel. This will be the first time they have faced each other.
