Nine Culver Military wrestlers – including three champions – will be advancing to the Penn regional on Saturday, Feb. 1. CMA finished third of nine teams at the Plymouth sectional behind Wawasee and the host Rockies this past Saturday.
Adam Davis ’18 (photo above) became Culver’s first four-time sectional champion, winning his 138-pound match by pin in 1-minute, 15 seconds over Garrett Stuckman of Wawasee. Davis’ other three sectional crowns came at 113, 120, and 126 pounds.
Manzona Bryant ’20 is also a repeat champion, outlasting Geremia Brooks of Wawasee, 8-5, at 132 pounds. Bryant made it all the way to the state podium last year, finishing sixth at the tournament in Indianapolis.
Michael Boland ’18 captured his first sectional crown at 182 pounds. He beat Alex Castro of Wawasee by an 8-3 decision.
All three wrestlers are still undefeated on the season. Davis is 33-0. Bryant is 29-0. Boland is 19-0.
The top four wrestlers at each weight class advance to the regional. Finishing second for the Eagles were Alex Coleman at 120, Aaron Brooke at 152, Gabriel Hissong at 160, and Jacob Trefren at 170. Third place qualifier Elijah Pack will advance at 145 pounds, as will fourth place finisher Joe Kuhl at 220 pounds.
