Two Culver Academies varsity rowing team members earned spots on the 2014-15 US Rowing scholastic honor roll, and another earned honorable mention recognition, the organization announced Friday.

Seniors Grant Ralston (Winston Salem, N.C.) and Karen Zhu (Marietta, Ga.) were named to the honor roll and Katrina Willis (Rolling Prairie, Ind.) was selected as honorable mention. Ralston was a member of the Boys Varsity 8+ that placed sixth place at the 2014 Midwest Scholastic this past spring. Willis was the varsity girl’s coxswain. CGA placed fourth in the girls varsity 4+ and first in the petite (seventh overall) final at the Midwest Scholastic. Zhu is a CGA varsity rower and placed second in the 2012 Midwest Scholastic in the Novice 8+.

The US Rowing honor roll recognizes high school seniors who have excelled in both academics and rowing. In total, 164 student-athletes applied from 79 schools. Applicants must be US Rowing members, have rowed or coxed at least one year, and successfully competed at or above the league or regional level.
