Culver Academies observed a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. to remember those who died on September 11, 2001. The students, faculty, and staff stopped to remember the 2,977 people who lost their lives at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and Shanksville, Pa. that morning. The time of 8:46 a.m. is significant because it marks the time when the first plane flew into the World Trade Center.
The moment of silence began with firing the cannon and finished with another cannon blast. The United States flag will also be flown at half-staff all day in observance of Patriot Day.
