Two students were honored as the May 2016 Athletes of the Month.
From CGA: Addison Coy
Addison Coy ’17 (Barrington, Ill.) has set numerous indoor and outdoor track and field school records this season. She holds the fastest time in the state for the 300 low hurdles. At the Rochester sectional, she set a new meet record while winning the 300 low hurdles title. Coy followed that with a victory at the Kokomo regional. She has the top seed going into the state meet on Friday, June 3.
Coach Mike Chastain said, “Addi has been working hard during the year to enhance her hurdling ability as well as physical conditioning. She is willing to listen and put coaching suggestions into practice. She is very competitive and strives to do her best.”
From CMA: Zach Moffett
Zach Moffett ’16 (Liberty, Ind.) is the captain for the CMA varsity baseball squad. Moffett led the team with a .521 batting average and .610 on-base percentage. This includes 24 singles, 6 doubles, and 1 triple. He also led the team in runs scored (23), on base percentage, and stolen bases (19). Defensively, he led the pitching staff with strikeouts (29).
According to the coaching staff: “Zach is a relentless competitor. He doesn’t quit and puts pressure on his opponents. He is also a tremendous teammate. He cares deeply about his peers, while setting high standards for himself and those around him.”
