“Welcome to Indiana basketball”
Norman Dale, coach of the Hickory Huskers

The Culver Military Academy basketball team will play two games in the historic Hoosier Gym in Knightstown, Ind., on Saturday, Feb. 11. The gym served as the home for the Hickory Huskers in the movie Hoosiers.

Students, parents, and alumni/alumnae will be able to cheer on the Eagles when they play Indian Creek at 11 a.m. and Rochester at 5:45 p.m. The games are part of the Hickory Classic, a full day of games at the gym. Tickets are available at a special rate of $8 for Culver fans. Fans can choose to attend one or both games, but each contest requires a separate ticket (available here).

The Eagles are currently 11-1 and ranked No. 1 in the Class 3A Sagarin rankings and fourth in the state’s 3A Associated Press poll. The ranking is the highest CMA has reached during the regular season. The 11-1 start is also the best start since the team went 14-4 under Tom Baker during the 1968-1969 season.

The Hoosier Gym is located at 355 N. Washington St., Knightstown, Ind. And, for added Culver connection, watch a review of Hoosiers by Gene Siskel ’63 and Roger Ebert.
