The Culver Girls Academy swimming and diving team captured its third sectional title in the past four years with a flourish Saturday (Feb. 7) when the 400 relay team finished nearly 10 seconds in front of the second place team.

In the last event of the meet, Cecilia Miller ’18 (Logansport, Ind.), Ella Spratt-Szarzynski ’17 (Waukegan, Ill.), Julia Funk ’15 (Decatur, Ill.), and Josephine Schott ’15 (Newport Beach, Calif.) claimed first place with a time of three minutes, 47.31 seconds. Second place Cass finished in 3:57.09. CGA claimed the team title with 357 points, followed by Rochester at 325 and host Warsaw in third at 290.

Schott claimed three first place ribbons for the Eagles, taking the 200 and 500 freestyle along with the 400 relay. She and the rest of the 400 relay team advance to the state finals in Indianapolis this coming weekend. The preliminaries will be conducted on Friday night at the Indiana University-Purdue University – Indianapolis Natatorium.

After not winning a sectional title until 2012, CGA has now won the title in 2012, 2013, and 2015. The Eagles finished second in 2014.
