Team faces Cornell in the first round Wednesday

The Culver Girls Academy polo team will face the Cornell girls team in the first round of the National Interscholastic Championship tournament Wednesday. CGA and Cornell will play at 10 a.m. (PDT) at the El Sarandi Ranch (63491 Van Buren St.), Thermal, Calif. A gate code is required to enter. If you plan on attending Wednesday’s match, please contact coach Savannah Kranich ’05.

Making the trip with Kranich are seniors Christina Aliev and Ally Vaughn, and juniors Ashley Dillard and Emma Vigy.

The second round will see the winner of Wednesday’s match play Garrison Forest at 4 p.m. Thursday. That will be followed by a match between Central Coast and Maryland at 6 p.m. The consolation game will be played at 5 p.m. Friday, with the championship match set for 10 a.m. Saturday. The games Thursday, Friday, and Saturday will be played at the Empire Polo Club (81800 Avenue 51), Indio, Calif.

The tournament banquet will be held at the Eldorado Club House at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

CGA advanced with a 12-9 regional championship win over Houston A and a 19-8 semifinal win against the Houston JV team.
