Gracen Hirschy ’ 13 has been invited to the USA Hockey’s Women’s National Festival Aug. 12-16 in Lake Placid, N.Y. Hirschy, currently a sophomore at the University of North Dakota, is one of 24 defensemen selected to participate.
The festival will be used to select the roster for the U.S. 22-and-under team that will play a three game series against Canada, Aug. 21-24, in Calgary, Alberta. As a Culver Girls Academy senior, Hirschy represented the United States during the 2013 International Ice Hockey Federation Under-18 Women’s World Championship in Finland. She scored three points on three assists. The U.S. team won the silver medal.
The full festival roster includes 24 defensemen, 38 forwards and seven goaltenders. Along with selecting the 22-Under team, selections will be made for the U-18 team that will play against Canada in a three game series, Aug. 21-24.
The 22-player rosters for both teams will be announced on Aug. 17 and the two teams will stay in Lake Placid for additional practice, Aug. 17-18, before competing against Canada. Hirschy is the third CGA player to represent the United States in international play. Molly Engstrom ’01 and Meghan Fardelmann ’05 also played for Team USA.
