When Spanish language television network Telemundo went searching for a theme song for its World Cup broadcasts, it selected one by Michael Brun ’10.
Brun and J Balvin’s Positivo is serving as the network’s theme song for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The song is a collaboration between the Colombian urban star Balvin and Brun, based on Brun’s Bayo, which is recorded in Haitian creole.
Positivo debuted in April during the Latin Grammy Awards.
“The song is about that energy you feel giving a hundred percent to what you do,” Brun told Billboard earlier. “I think it’s the perfect spirit for a World Cup song.”
Telemendo said that Positivo aligns with the overall concept and message behind the network’s efforts to rally Latinos across the country. The music is being used across Telemundo and Universo channels and all Telemundo Deportes digital platforms.
