Two Culver Girls Academy seniors received a Gold Key for their artwork at the Scholastic Art Awards judging and a third received two Silver Keys during judging at the Scholastic Art Awards Exhibition in South Bend.

Receiving Gold Keys were Jordan Berger (Fort Wayne, Ind.) and Abigail Jeffirs (Plymouth, Ind.).  Yu Kyung Lee (Yong In-Si, South Korea) received two Silver Keys. The three girls submitted in the photography division.

The Gold Key is the highest level of achievement on the regional level. Seven to 10 percent of all regional submissions are recognized at this level and all are considered for national-level recognition.

The Silver Key is presented to approximately 10 – 15 percent of all regional submissions. More than 2500 entries were submitted for the competition from 15 counties in Indiana and three in Michigan.

There are 450 student pieces now on display at the South Bend Museum of Art until March 2. The competition is sponsored by The Scholastic Arts & Writing Awards. The exhibition is sponsored by the Friends of Scholastic Arts Awards and the museum. The museum is located at 120 S. St. Joseph Street, South Bend. It is part of the Century Center.
