The Beatles tribute band American English will take to the Eppley Auditorium stage Thursday, May 12 to help kick off Culver’s Alumni Reunion Weekend. This special Huffington Concert Series presentation will begin at 8 p.m.
American English has been considered one of the best Beatles tribute band since its inception. The group was voted “number one” by thousands of Beatle fans as winners of sound alike contests at Beatlefest for three consecutive years. They have also won Illinois Entertainer of the Year and have been voted “Best Tribute Band” three of the last four years by their fans in the Chicagoland area. The band features Eric Michaels as Paul, Young Hines as John, James Paul Lynch as George, Tom Gable as Ringo, and Ken Zemanek as “the fifth Beatle” on keyboards.
The demand here and abroad, coupled with their spectacular fan base, has anchored American English into a professional setting, and launched the band into larger venues and theatres worldwide. The show begins the early years of Ed Sullivan and includes the classics She Loves You, Twist and Shout, and I Want to Hold Your Hand. It follows the band through the psychedelic era of Sgt. Pepper and the Magical Mystery Tour. It will finish with songs from the Beatles final years together, covering The White Album, Let It Be, and Abbey Road, including Hey Jude, Something, and Let It Be.
Tickets are now on sale at Culver Academies’ Steinbrenner Performing Arts Center Box Office or by contacting Marsha Coven via email or calling (574) 842-7058. Tickets will also be available at the Eppley Auditorium Box Office one hour before the performance.
