The following student-athletes were recognized as Culver Academies’ November Athletes of the Month.
CGA: Isabelle Ahlenius
Isabelle Ahlenius, a member of the CGA swimming and diving team, broke the pool record at the first meet of the season with a score of 252.70. Her previous high score was 230.60. Ahlenius, a sophomore from Knox, Indiana, has placed first in every meet this season, proving herself to be key contributor to girls’ undefeated swim squad.
According to coach Sarah Youvan, “She is on deck ready to work every day. She deliberately works to improve her diving and still finds time to help teach and support the new divers. She keeps dive practice fun and motivates others to work hard to achieve their goals. I never have to question her work ethic or if she is going to give her best. Belle is an extremely important and influential part of our team.”
CMA: Dom Vidoli
Dominic Vidoli, a defenseman for the CMA prep hockey team, is a considerable offensive threat from blue line. In November, the first classman from Wake Forest, N.C., had three goals and 12 assists. His high energy and productive play have helped direct the team to an undefeated record and, after defeating Shattuck St. Mary’s, debuted at No. 1 in the national Prep Hockey poll.
According to coach Steve Palmer, “Dom is a pro-like skater who has learned to play the position with efficiency. He is one of our leaders in minutes played and doesn’t give our opponent’s top players an inch when he’s on the ice. He is a consummate leader on the ice and in the classroom. Consequently, he is the type of player who makes his teammates around him better.”
