CGA senior Addison Coy (Barrington, Ill.) repeated as the 300 hurdles state champion and set a school record in the process at the IHSAA State Finals at Indiana University on Saturday.
Coy ran a 42.30 in the finals, breaking her own record. She followed that blue ribbon run by anchoring the 4×400 relay team that finished on the podium in sixth place. The team of Erin Anderson ’19, Marissa Rivera ’20, Mary Terhune ’17, and Coy also set a school record with a time of 3:55.43.
The CMA 4×800 relay team’s time of 7:57.99 was a school record but they did not reach the podium at the boys state finals Friday. Running were Calloway Bird ’18, Brian Krupp ’17, Zach Dunlap ’17, and Shane Pursch ’17.
The CMA golf team extended its season beyond graduation with a third place finish in the Warsaw Sectional at Rozella Ford Golf Club. The team will travel to Warsaw’s Stonehenge Golf Club Thursday for the regional.
Warsaw won the team title with a score of 308, with Plymouth and CMA tied at 319. Plymouth took second on the fifth player’s score ruling. Culver was paced by Kirby Hart’s 18-hole total of 76. He was followed by Mikey Perea’s 80, Lake Genenbacher’s 81, Michael Wright’s 82, and Stefan Rasch’s 96.
The CGA lacrosse team came up just short of a state championship and undefeated season, losing to Indianapolis Cathedral, 12-11, in the final. The Eagles pulled within one with 29 seconds remaining and forced a turnover with 15 ticks on the clock but could not put the ball in the goal to send the game into overtime.
Several players were honored before and after the game. Senior midfielder Korryn Brewer was named one of Indiana’s five All-Americans, as well as receiving first team all-state and all-region honors. Goalie Jordi Blackburne ’17 was also named to the first team all-state and all-region teams.
Tori Styers ’17 and Jenna Thomas ’17 were named second team all-state and all-region. Academic All-State winners were seniors Annie Evans, Lucy Welch, Kirsten LoPrete, Styers, and Blackburne.
