Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be performed by the Actors from the London Stage, Thursday, Feb. 9, in Culver Academies’ Eppley Auditorium. The curtain will go up at 7:30 p.m. The performance is free and open to the public.
The five-member ensemble is at Culver as Artists in Residence. They have been working with several classes, including Ethics, AP World History, AP Literature, Acting, Thinking Smart, and Global Perspectives.
Thursday evening’s full-length performance is the highlight of their stay. Featuring minimal props, costumes, and set, the clever staging showcases the talents of the ensemble while keeping the focus where it belongs – on Shakespeare’s words.
The residency is through Shakespeare at Notre Dame, which is conducting a yearlong celebration commemorating of the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death and his legacy. AFTLS performed A Midsummer Night’s Dream in January at the university. The company traditionally tours the United States, performing at college campuses. It has been based at the University of Notre Dame since 2000.
