Fifteen Culver Academies student-athletes officially committed to 14 universities and colleges on Wednesday, Nov. 13, which was the first day of the national signing period. The seniors and first-classmen will be playing lacrosse, hockey, wrestling, and baseball at the next level.

While Nov. 13 was officially the first day for signing National Letters of Intent in several sports for NCAA Division I and II colleges, not all of Culver’s students needed to sign to make their commitments official.

The list includes eight NCAA Division I commits in men’s lacrosse (Culver Military Academy is currently ranked sixth in the nation by Inside Lacrosse) and Kayla Miracle, the first girl to reach the IHSAA state finals in wrestling.

Men’s lacrosse: Joel Tinney (Innerkip, Ontario) Johns Hopkins; Riley Thompson (Orangeville, Ontario) Princeton; Pierre Byrne (South Bend, Ind.) Notre Dame; Matt Neufeldt (Naperville, Ill.) Maryland; Beau Ecksten (Fortville, Ind.) Delaware; P.J. Bogle (St. Charles, Ill.) Michigan; Michael Calvello (Woodridge, Ill.) Furman; and Nic Peterson (Scottsdale, Ariz.) Washington & Lee.

Women’s lacrosse: Rory Byrne (South Bend, Ind.) Notre Dame.

Men’s hockey: Ryan Coulter (Dundas, Ontario) Bowling Green.

Women’s hockey: Gabrielle Switaj (Kent, Ohio) Boston College.

Men’s wrestling: David Zajac (Avon Lake, Ohio) Colorado School of Mines.

Women’s wrestling: Kayla-Colleen Miracle (Campbellsville, Ky.) Campbellsville University.

Baseball: Perley Provost (South Bend, Ind.) Denison; and Shane Comiskey (Culver) Grinnell College.
